Daily Schedule
This is a typical schedule for a driver scheduled to drive five trips. It never goes exactly like this, but we follow the basic outline, especially in the beginning of the day and the end of the day. The middle of the day changes depending on the fluctuating demand for our rides.
We have hired people for as little as two days a week. We much prefer to find someone who can handle working five or six days a week. That still allows a little freedom in the schedule to move people around if necessary and also to allow drivers to trade days off.
- 8:00
- Sign in. One minute late and you forfeit your daily on-time bonus.
- 8:00 to 8:05
- Two people shovel entry way and gate swing area, one person gets the water.
- 8:05 to 8:10
- Find bowls and place them next to dog houses (make sure they are level).
- 8:10 to 8:15
- Water the dogs.
- 8:15 to 8:25
- Jeff feeds the dogs a morning snack.
- 8:15 to 8:40
- Pick up crap or, if there is a lot of fresh snow, shovel the walkways and porch
- 8:40 sharp to 9:00
- Move dogs from their houses to the staging area (if we haven't finished shoveling or picking up crap, we still honor this starting time).
- 9:00 to 9:15
- Prepare your sled, harness your first team
- 9:15 to 9:25
- Make sure you are ready for your trip, finish any unfinshed tasks from earlier.
- 9:30 to 9:33
- Load guests into your sled
- 9:33 to 9:38
- Bring dogs to line
- 9:40 to 10:20
- First trip of the day
- 10:20 to 10:35
- Water dogs, take pictures, return dogs to staging area
- 10:35 to 10:45
- Prepare your sled, harness your second team
- 10:50 to 10:53
- Load guests into your sled
- 10:53 to 10:58
- Bring dogs to line
- 11:00 to 11:40
- Second trip of the day
- 11:40 to 11:55
- Water dogs, take pictures, return dogs to staging area
- 11:55 to 12:00
- Prepare your sled
- 12:00 to 12:20
- Lunch break
- 12:20 to 12:25
- Harness your third team
- 12:25 to 12:28
- Load guests into your sled
- 12:28 to 12:33
- Bring dogs to line
- 12:40 to 13:20
- Third trip of the day
- 13:20 to 13:35
- Water dogs, take pictures, return dogs to staging area
- 13:35 to 13:45
- Prepare your sled, harness your fourth team
- 13:45 to 13:48
- Load guests into your sled
- 13:48 to 13:53
- Bring dogs to line
- 13:55 to 14:35
- Fourth trip of the day

- Water dogs, take pictures, return dogs to their houses

- Water dogs, take pictures, return dogs to their houses

- Put sleds and harness away, clean up trailhead

- Water dogs, finish picking up crap, shoveling or any other loose ends
