Working with sleddogs is fun and rewarding. Of all the jobs I've had, it is the most demanding physically and at times mentally. We made the choice to start working with these animals in 1996, and would make that decision again in a heartbeat.
Musher
Job status: 3 openings for 2006-2007
The musher position is available from November through early to mid April. There are many duties encompassing all aspects of dog care and customer service. The average day is just over ten hours long. We have openings for four and five day weeks. The position is physically demanding requiring quickness, strength, and quick decision making.

Handler
Job status: 1 opening for 2006-2007
The handler position is very diverse. It is about thirty hours a week, and about half the time is at the trailhead, the other half is in our store. Duties include caring for the dogs at the trailhead, checking in guests, conducting skijoring lessons, selling merchandise, and taking reservations ever the phone.
Summmer handler
Job status: One opening for 2007
This position is available from mid April to mid November. Duties include all aspects of the mushing position, except there is no snow on the ground. Hours are 7:30 am to 9:30 am, five days a week. We ask for 50 hours a month, so there will be a day or two that you will work eight hours or so. On those days we might cut firewood, help unload food shipments or other duties around the dog yard or our other business: Mountain Dawg Outfitters. Pay for the position is rent and utilities in our on-site one bedroom apartment. It is possible that we may have more than 50 hours of work available and we can offer that to you at $8 per hour.
